Working as part of a cross functional team, you lead RDQ activities to complete packaging design and packaging deployment for innovation/growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

You will independently coordinate technical work for projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks, and coordinate projects to determine appropriate packaging specification information using sampling and supplier management and pilot-plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will also develop activities such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc., and plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers. To succeed in this role, you will use your understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes to ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence. You will be accountable for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions derived from the analysis and interpretation of results; develop and leverage connections both internally and with the external technical community; and create intellectual property to drive competitive advantage.

Job Summary:

As the R&D Packaging Manager, you will lead RDQ activities focused on packaging design and deployment for innovation and productivity projects across multiple geographies. Your primary objective is to enhance the consumer experience while ensuring alignment with marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating technical projects, managing stakeholder relationships, and leveraging your expertise to drive competitive advantage through packaging solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Oversee a team of 6 Packaging Engineers.

Project Management: Coordinate and manage up to 120+ packaging projects per year from inception to commercialization, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams (RDQ, Marketing, Manufacturing, etc.).

Packaging Development : Develop activities for a high-complex business with 350 SKUs, such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc., and plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers. Leverage technical expertise and understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes to ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence.

Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate, collaborate and influence stakeholders to meet project objectives.

Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize packaging processes and reduce costs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging/Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience FMCG or consumer packaging goods environment is a plus.

• A consumer-centric mindset with a passion for understanding and advocating for consumer needs.

• Strong leadership skills and managing stakeholders.

• Ability to identify complex technical/business problems, creating and implement solutions.

• Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.

• Technical curiosity and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

• Fluency in English and Vietnamese is required for effective communication with local and foreign partners.
