Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $50,000

As the Sustainability Outreach Coordinator for the Office of Sustainability, your role will help foster a culture of sustainability within both the student body and the local community. Reporting directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer, you will be responsible for organizing and executing various events aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices. Working closely with the Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for coordinating student interns and developing educational materials and resources to inform and educate students about sustainability issues, best practices, and actionable steps they can take to reduce their environmental footprint.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate student focused programs, outreach, marketing and community awareness

  • Host outreach events primarily; orientation, Campus Race to Zero Waste, America Recycles Day, Binghamton 2 Degrees, Admitted Students Days, and similar events

  • Assist with website updates

  • Responsible for social media accounts

  • Create media for events and the Office of Sustainability

  • Attend, organize, and staff sustainability events, and outreach opportunities

  • May supervise and/or lead student employees and interns

  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Sustainability Officer, Sustainability Manager, and Binghamton 2 Degrees (B2D) initiative

  • Develop and manage student sustainability competition

    Job Requirements:

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies/Science or Sustainability related field

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to work some nights and weekends

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience hosting educational events

  • Experience with Canva or equivalent programs

  • Experience working with diverse groups and students

  • Web design experience
