CITY OF BILLINGS LEAD FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPPORT I in BILLINGS, Montana
The City of Billings is seeking to fill a Lead Facilities Maintenance Support I (Janitorial) - Airport position. The Lead Facilities Maintenance Support I performs a combination of lead worker duties of assigning and evaluating work and routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned facilities and grounds. Duties include supervision of Facilities Maintenance support staff as well as cleaning floors, walls, windows, sidewalks, restrooms, work areas, break areas and public access areas of public buildings. Duties include removal of waste materials and collection of recyclable materials. Duties may include being observant of potential safety and security problems. Additional duties include light mechanical repair. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Leads, plans, performs, and reviews a full range of custodial duties and services. - Trains assigned employees. - Verifies work of assigned employees. - Supervises the use of and operates a variety of building maintenance tools and equipment. - Performs routine cleaning and sanitation duties. - Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, and hand cleaning supplies. - Safely uses cleaning chemicals. - Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling to proper collection locations. - Removes snow from sidewalk areas and ensures that ice conditions are treated. - Waters plants inside buildings and in the immediate outdoor areas. - Cleans break areas, offices, public and operational areas. - Cleans and stocks restrooms. - Maintains inventory and notifies the supervisor when material stocks are low. - May order department supplies. - Receives janitorial supplies and stores them in designated areas. - Observes suspicious people or conditions. - Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner. - Provides information within the area of assignment. - Resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner. - Observes burnt out lights and either repairs them or reports them to maintenance staff for correction. - Observes unattended packages left in the facility and calls for assistance if there is a possibility of a hazard. - Monitors all building systems as directed and calls trained maintenance staff. - Paints walls in assigned areas. - Replaces light bulbs or light switches. - Moves office partitions and furnishings or assists others with moves. - Assists with security measures and participates in Airport emergency plans. - Performs security sweeps and reports violations of airport security measures. - Locks and secures building at night. - Provides assistance during emergency events and training. - May replace air filters in HVAC equipment. - May assist Building Maintenance Mechanics with routine maintenance. - May set up and take down tables and chairs for events. - May set up AV equipment and secures it following use. - May provide routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions. Required Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of two (2) years custodial experience, or equivalent. - Must have strong interpersonal skills. - A valid Montana driver's license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, driving record check, and a Federal fingerprint based criminal history check Preferred Qualifications and Skills: - Supervision experience or lead work of a building maintenance staff. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Hours may vary based on operational needs. Salary: $20.4812 - $23.6770 per hour. Salary reflects Step 4 and Step 7 of a 7-step pay scale.
