Join POWER Engineers as a Structural Engineer in the CSA Department of the Power Generation Division. We want to hire entry-level structural engineers so our experienced structural engineers in Idaho, New Jersey, and Kansas can mentor and develop leaders from within our organization. We want to provide you with a career path to Technical Manager, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Department Manager.

We are a smaller department within a bigger division that has a flat organization so there are great opportunities to gain experience and work closely with your supervisor and Division Leaders. You’ll develop close relationships with coworkers not only within our Division on Power Generation projects but also on the Power Delivery Division Projects (Substation & Overhead Line) and Facilities Division Projects (Food and Beverage) to gain exposure to different fields and find the career that suits you best! Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities) address their challenges and implement power grid systems of the future.

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and wind projects

  • Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls and buildings.

  • Design structural steel systems for buildings, equipment supports, etc.

  • Entry-level structural engineer with an interest in structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry analysis and design engineering

  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel to project and job sites to walk down sites, interface with clients, and field verify conditions (5%-10%)

Required Education/Experience

  • College graduate with 3 years of structural engineering experience

  • BS Degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Micro-station to interface with drafters/designers

Preferred Education/Experience

  • MS Degree in Structural Engineering

  • EIT obtained

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, individually, and as part of a project team

  • Knowledge and/or ability to learn 3D modeling/analysis software (RISA, STAAD)

  • Familiarity with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects

  • Basic knowledge of building codes and material specifications Civil-Site design

  • Exposure to Geotechnical engineering experience

  • Exposure to Pre-Engineered Metal Building Systems

  • Exposure to Seismic analysis and design

  • Exposure to Dynamic foundation analysis
