The Biddeford Regional Center of Technology is seeking a:

Career Pathways Coordinator

BRCOT is growing, and we are seeking a dynamic individual capable of promoting college and career readiness for extended learning experiences in the community. This position will work directly with students, educators, guidance departments, and industry professionals to develop and facilitate extended learning opportunities/work-based learning opportunities that can include but are not limited to, job shadows, paid internships,pre-apprenticeship/apprenticeships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Liaison with employers, service providers, Career Center, post-secondary institutions, local Chamber of Commerce,and Industry Associations to promote CTE education.

  • The Career Pathways Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating policies and programs to strengthen partnerships and ensure expanded career opportunities for students in grades 9-12.Develop curriculum for career development and Internship Program

  • Develop internship opportunities and placement

  • Makes presentations for and convenes meetings of appropriate stakeholders to promote connections among education, business, and industry.

  • Provides an opportunity for teachers and counselors to learn about the demands and needs of business and industry for educated and skilled workers, which they can share with their students.

  • Engages in professional growth and development opportunities to keep abreast of current and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workplace.

  • Assists learners with decision-making for career and life planning.

  • Assists in developing and updating occupational competencies for inclusion into the curricula based on local business and industry needs.

  • Recruits businesses to become sites for students to expand their technical experience either through paid employment, internship, pre-apprenticeship or job shadowing.

  • Arranges student/class visitations to businesses for tours and demonstrations of new technology when available.

  • Performs such other duties as the Director may request from time to time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSRelevant experience in ELOs and work-based learning for youth, familiarity with the specific educational landscape and community resources in the Biddeford-Saco area WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is based primarily out of the Biddeford Center of Technology. Semi-frequent travel within our designated region in Maine may be required, along with occasional statewide travel. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSalary and work year are determined by the Biddeford School Committee and/or the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
