This position will assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies related to Supplier pricing support and ensure alignment with manufacturing strategy and goals, while simultaneously challenging commercial and operating practices, and business processes with a focus on driving efficient solutions. Strong planning, project and time management, sourcing, communication, and negotiating skills are required.
You will develop an intimate knowledge of the supply markets' competitiveness drivers, key suppliers, capabilities, and marketplace dynamics. You will be encouraged to support procurement practices with a focus on driving lead-time and cost-reduction initiatives.
You will also be responsible for supporting all aspects of pricing guidance, identification of capable suppliers, live interaction with suppliers for technical questions and clarifications, management of RFQ lifecycle and recommendation for award. You will also interface at management levels within the suppliers' organizations to represent Air Products' interests.
The individual will be responsible for coordinating supplier pricing requests in support of customer proposals, updating material master pricing and lead times, and timely delivery supporting successful order execution and customer commitments. You will also be responsible for addressing and resolving any invoicing tasks or discrepancies. You will be responsible for leading and resolving supplier non-conformances and other quality-related challenges.
This individual will lead continuous supply chain development and supplier qualification efforts where tasks will include NDA creation, commercial, technical and quality screening activities, and supplier onboarding. S pplier scoring and analysis will need to be tracked and managed to provide ongoing reporting to leadership on value being delivered to the business.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Prepare and issue request for quotes (RFQs) to obtain Supplier pricing and lead times to support the Procurement and Proposal teams
Contribute to procurement and sourcing strategies that conforms to all policies and procedures
Support supply chain development and optimization, as well as relationship management and performance measurement
Ability to obtain knowledge of all new equipment and aftermarket parts
Ability to review and understand technical drawings to determine fit in supply chain, and address any questions with Suppliers
Lead negotiations with Suppliers to acquire globally competitive price, and delivery, while proactively accounting for potential supply chain risk
Achieve regular contact with suppliers to acquire progress status updates, production schedules and evidence of meeting achievements is required
Provide timely updates to project teams and inform of any possible delivery issue
Preserve favorable impression with suppliers despite possible heightened tensions and emotions
Lead activities for Supplier pricing, sourcing, and development opportunities
Collect, analyze and communicate invoicing discrepancies to maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
Obtain global knowledge and understanding of supply chain trends and developments in a manner that supports team members
Become familiar with team-owned commodities to support current and forecasted priorities
Lead all aspects of supply chain development and supplier qualification activities
Support both internal and external audits of Procurement and Supply Chain practices and procedures
Develop leadership reports to effectively communicate supply chain trends, impacts, risks, mitigation plans, and value generated for the businesses supported
Critical Competencies:
Familiarity with the turbomachinery/rotating machinery, storage tanks, and pressurized vessel industries and ability to learn key aspects of those industries
Sources components or services and ensures timely preparations and communication of RFQ (Request for Quotes) and Purchase Order placement
Experience with commodities/services such as steel plates, machined parts (shrouds, plates, rings, seals, vanes, etc.), valves, lube oil systems, bearings, gearboxes, foils, impellers, tooling, shafts/rotos, actuators (and assembly parts), couplings, gauges, instrumentation, castings/patterns, forgings, fabricated parts and assemblies, structural fabrication, manufactured fixtures, piping/tubing and fittings, Class C items, etc. is strongly desired
Excellent commercial awareness
Strong leadership, influencing, communication, and facilitative skills
Works with Engineering and Design team to understand technical requirements needed for supply chain development and works with suppliers to ensure these requirements are met
Self-disciplined and self-motivated with a confirmed ability to work optimally with minimal direction
Strong organizational and time management skills
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or 3+ years of experience in Procurement, Technical, Engineering, Commercial or Project environment
