The Research and Education Support Specialist will support the Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) in the advancement of vision-related education, training, and readiness and vision rehabilitation education across a wide range of constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the VCE Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other staff.

  • Contribute to research/development by using quantitative and qualitative methods to assist with the collection, coding of data, analysis, and interpretation of results.

  • May contribute to technical reports and documentation of outcomes and assists with the preparation of posters and manuscripts for publication.

  • Collaborate with the SMEs (government and contracting) in review of research to develop educational material on topics of interest to the VCE.

  • Establish or assists in the establishment of research groups; plans meetings and provides the groups with all requested information.

  • Participate in staff meetings and initiatives including appropriate quality improvement and education activities or take meeting minutes and becomes knowledgeable of issues discussed.

  • Collect and coordinate information required for staff or investigators which may include some or all of the following: retrieval of information from libraries or literature searches, create and maintain a literature library, and conduct clinical analysis of data.

  • Develop and maintain a list of potential research topics of interest and importance to the Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) and its stakeholders that would be suitable for scientific investigations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science Discipline

  • Master’s Degree, Preferred

  • Minimum three (3) years professional experience in adult training environments, including specialized DOD training experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in using learning management and learning content management systems.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication.

  • Excellent time management skills and organizational abilities

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to complete the following:

  • Conduct data pulls

  • Record and interpret results from literature review(s)

  • Collect, review, and validate education materials.

  • Review and utilize data provided from clinical systems, such, but not limited to: MHS Data Repository (MDR), Military Health System Management Analysis and Reporting Tool (MHS M2), to conduct clinical analysis.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
