Job Summary:

As a member of the HR Technology Contracts team, the Manager, HR Contracts, will report to the Director, HR Contracts and Governance. The Manager will be working on 25-35 contracts at one time which vary in levels of complexity (Master Agreements, SOWs, change orders) and be responsible for overall HR contracting efforts, including:

  • drafting contracts using existing templates.

  • negotiating business terms and conditions to Marriott standards for procurement of both technology and non-technology products and services used by Marriott's HR department.

  • assisting in managing Vendor relationship after contract execution, including monitoring adherence to service levels, issuing Vendor scorecards, and resolving disputes.

  • performing contract coordination, administration, filing, routing, updating contract spreadsheets, entering information into a contracts management database, and processing contract approvals.

  • performing contract filing, routing, and all aspects of administering HR contracts.

In addition, the Manager, HR Contracts will be a member of the governance team responsible for managing Marriott’s HR Outsourcing Service Provider. The Manager, HR Contracts will also support the contract management technology and related processes used by the HR department.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in negotiation of business terms and conditions; knowledge of technology contracting preferably in the corporate/commercial sector; strong written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of contract management technology and related processes, dependable and reliable work ethic; an ability to handle high volume of projects with multiple activities running concurrently and with minimal supervision. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

Specifically, the Manager, HR Contracts will:

  • Review, edit and negotiate Change Orders and Amendments to the HR Outsourcing Services Agreement.

  • Review, edit and negotiate basic contracts and other transactional documents (e.g. SOWs, NDAs, Change Orders, and Amendments) for the procurement of products and services used by Marriott's HR department, including technology such as hardware, software, and services.

  • Liaison with the HR COEs, HR leaders, IT (including Security and Data Privacy teams), Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure all necessary Marriott processes, controls and checks needed to execute contract are fulfilled. Proactively communicate contract terms and procedures to stakeholders.

  • Serve as a point of contact or liaison between Marriott and Vendors on contractual questions.

  • Interpret contracts and perform business analysis of agreements under consideration, and coordinate with manager or legal regarding any legal issues.

  • Lead contract negotiations with Vendors; assist with contract negotiations with Vendor counsel.

  • Assist with running the Contracts Management System for the HR Contracts Dept.

  • Research and analyze market in order to source Vendors through a competitive RFI/ RFP process.

  • Communicate expectations and standards with key stakeholders and Vendors.

  • Inquire, learn and report on trends in the industry, best practices in HR procurement, technology procurement, and negotiating strategies.

  • Protect Marriott's interests, property, confidential information and marks.

  • Communicate and summarize contract and business deal for management.

  • Assist in managing Vendor relationship after contract execution, including monitoring adherence to service levels, issuing Vendor scorecards, and resolving disputes.

Education:

  • BA/BS required

  • JD and/or MBA is strongly preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of direct, client facing experience in the management and administration of technology, non-technology, and services contracts.

  • 5 year minimum experience with technology and non-technology contract negotiations

  • Experience in a consulting partnership or a similar entrepreneurial business setting desirable

  • Experience in interpreting basic contract provisions, evaluating risk, and handling basic financial/accounting issues.

  • Experience using template agreements

  • Technical background or prior experience negotiating technology contracts is a plus

  • Experience with large-scale outsourcing arrangements a plus

  • 3 year minimum experience working with executives and management teams

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
