Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description
The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role involves conducting blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
Update patient information accurately.
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Properly explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all physicians' orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport.
Store specimen samples according to the required temperature.
Essential Skills
Phlebotomy
Venipuncture
Experience with blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens
Ability to record maintenance data and perform decontamination
Proficiency in updating patient information
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Experience in rooming patients
Work Environment
Part-time position, working 7 days a week from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The role involves floating between Bethany and OKC locations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
