POSITION SUMMARY

Applying engineering and chemistry techniques, assists in the improvement of quality and manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production. Assist in equipment and processes design to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and to promote safety, quality and reliability. Assess current equipment methods and processes and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoot and repair equipment and processes. Shows results in reports. Applies themselves in laboratory setting as needed follows good GMP. May train personnel in equipment and method usage and processes. Performs work under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.

Pilot Plant and New Product Development Support (90%)

  • Assist NPD projects as assigned and in compliance with Procedures, Programs, and Policies.

  • Execute Design of Experiments for Pilot Plant Scale-Up and Production Scale-Up.

  • Operates and ensures pilot plant machines/production equipment is prepared for operation and installed following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency and ensures are functioning to specifications.

  • Executes required lab testing as needed for pilot plant and field trials.

  • Analyze and Report Design of Experiment data identifying result compared to expectations and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop a rapport with PM team, QA Team, and R&D personnel.

  • Maintain housekeeping, 5S and organization of pilot area.

  • Manage raw materials for pilot plant activities.

Plant Support (10%):

  • Assist in identifying, developing and implementing process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value added activities.

  • Provide support on any production/product/quality issues as required.

  • Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor Degree in science or engineering from an accredited university.

  • 0-2 years experience in a process manufacturing environment

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

    • 3+ years experience in a process manufacturing environment
Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Basic technical expertise.

  • Handles low complex issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff.

  • Analytical thinking skills.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized in scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.

  • Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.

  • Team player - maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers.

  • Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.

Travel Requirement:

  • Up to 25% (domestic).
Physical Requirements:

  • Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.  

  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 25 pounds.

  • Standing: Must be able to stand at least 50-75% of the day.

  • Sitting: Must be able to sit 25-50% of the day.

  • Twisting/Bending: Must be able to Twist/bend 50-75% of the day.

  • Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 20% of the day.
