Senior DB2 Database Administrator

What does a successful Senior DB2 Database Administrator do at Fiserv?

As a Senior DB2 Database Administrator you will showcase your DB2 expertise on AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the organization's databases. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the database systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. Your role will also involve optimizing database performance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other IT teams to support various applications and projects.

What you will do:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database systems on AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms

  • Monitor and manage database performance, capacity, and health to ensure optimal functionality and availability while addressing potential security breaches

  • Perform regular backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to safeguard critical data

  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption, to protect sensitive information

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing SQL queries, and tuning database configurations to enhance system performance

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures

  • Prepare regular reports on database performance, growth, and capacity planning

  • Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in case of failures within security policies and standards to comply with relevant regulations and best practices

What you will need to have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with specific expertise in DB2 on Linux platforms

  • 3+ years of experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and monitoring tasks

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience

What would be great to have:

  • DB2 experience with Windows and AIX plaforms

  • Experience with other database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) and platforms

  • Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)

  • Experience with database clustering and high availability solutions
