Description

Robert Half is seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator with advanced knowledge in Windows and cloud technology for our client based in the Berkeley area. This is a hybrid REMOTE and ON-SITE Opportunity. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for modifications of GPO, Windows Updates, Active Directory, VMware, Backups, and related hardware and application software running under the Windows Operating System. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for implementing best practices and scalability. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for monitoring, administration, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including but not limited to PCs, Windows & Chrome operating systems, hardware, software, cloud applications and peripherals. This is an immediate need and is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, maintenance, and support of site-specific system administration such as group policy, print management, and user administration.

  • Consults with and advises program management and administrative staff on systems implementation requirementsm

  • Responsible for coordinating and resolving disaster, incidents, and recovery; confers with superiors regarding the resolution of problems

  • Directs and coordinates the design, development, acquisition and implementation of computer hardware, storage, software and data communications solutions to streamline departmental operations

  • Is responsible for project management and change control for all internal system and component changes

  • Performs system maintenance, security and removal

  • Monitors daily activity on systems, checking for potential problems, resource ability, performance and "load" characteristics, and systems integrity; monitors systems activity and usage to maintain a secure environment; and troubleshoots, repairs and provides viable recommendations for resolving problems

  • Keeps current with software releases and updates for all operating systems, applications and e-mail systems, keeping all systems at current release levels, unless directed otherwise

  • Evaluates new software under consideration for adoption; reviews available public domain software for possible use; and maintains accurate inventory of licenses and appropriate version/release levels for all applications in use

  • Designs, configures, implements, tests and maintains all LAN infrastructure, components, and connections

  • Coordinates, plans and implements network security measures

  • Reviews and refines security policies and access control lists

  • Manages and maintains the stability of the hypervisor/virtualization environment

  • Installs and configures Storage Area Network

  • Participates in network design activities, configures and tests networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software

  • Assist in maintaining and supporting WAN/LAN/VPN/Cloud/Wireless/VOIP Infrastructure, equipment and related systems when needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years or more of systems administration experience in a business, non-profit, private school or public school

  • Experience Supporting Windows Servers 2019: Active Directory, Domain Controller

  • Demonstrate knowledge of VMware & AWS/Azure

  • Cisco Networking and infrastructure: UCS/Converged Blade Chassis, Meraki Firewall,

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows and PC operating system and platform.

  • Meraki VPN Controller, Virtualization: VMWare 6.0+, Endpoint Protection: Sophos, MFA: Duo, Backup/Recovery: Rubrik

  • Experience Leading Projects is a must have

  • Must have good interpersonal and PM/business analysis skills.
