  • The Supply Chain Management II role is responsible for the planning and delivery of all direct purchased products required to maintain the build schedules of one or more of the regional Plants. The position is also responsible for the effective management of regional working capital ensuring that inventory is managed at the lowest possible levels. The position has a key role in leading Materials Planning teams to develop improved Supply Chain flows and to create improve communication links with our supply base and our Plant’s regionally. This role must provide inspirational leadership to support the organization.

  • The New Product Development (NPD) Sr. Project Manager will have overall Project Management responsibility for Procurement and Parts sourcing activities in support of Product Development. This position has ultimate responsibility for assurance of Project and Product cost and timing of Purchased Components and Assemblies for New Product Development. This responsibility includes working with cross-functional project team member, Category Managers, and Strategic Sourcing Managers, in achievement of component cost targets, tooling budgets, sourcing strategies, project schedules and project milestones. Monitor status and expedite completion of various activities to assure that the Procurement and Supply organization is supporting project timing, material cost objectives and Review Gate deliverables. Position is accountable for procurement and prototype requirements. Manage all prototype parts required to support product development projects. Provide status updates to Procurement management as requested. This is the senior most of the three NPD Project Manager levels within the Supply Chain organization, with responsibility for direct reports, and increased scope of projects managed in-terms of size, procurement value, and Engineering tooling budgets.

What you will do:

  • Overall Project Management responsibility for all Procurement & Supply activities associated with product-development projects:

  • Manage component requirements in achievement of project cost targets.

  • Contribute to project schedule development

  • Manage project plans & deliverables

  • Manage project timeline and exception process

  • Manage and negotiate procurement budgets related to tooling, prototypes, and additional procured components.

  • Core team member and approving representative from NPD Procurement on new product development gate review process.

Who you are:

  • Assure parts are sourced with preferred supply base. Work with Strategic Sourcing Manager on alternate sourcing solution, where capability is not available in the preferred supplier list.

  • Responsible for communicating global project strategies with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, to mitigate risk to meeting project plan.

  • Develop proactive escalation plans to avoid project derailment.

What you will need:

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance or Business. PMP & CPM certifications preferred.

  • 5-7 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Minimum 3 years in a Procurement role and 1-2 years of Project Management role.

Skills, Experience & Abilities

  • Leadership Experience

  • Project management and organizational skills related to procurement and product development.

  • Procurement background in a product development environment. Knowledge of purchasing principles such as supplier development, cost management, supplier quality management and negotiation.

  • Knowledge related to lift truck and/or automotive specific commodities. Includes direct experience with cost-based analysis, negotiation, program management, and part approval.

  • Computer knowledge including MS-Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project applications.
