Walmart (USA) Senior Manager, Contracting - Payer & Pharmacy Clinical Services in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

This position will have two distinct functions: (1) Pharmacy Clinical Services payer contracting, and (2) Vendor management, complex initiative reporting and enrollment process management.

Pharmacy Clinical Services payer contracting responsibilities will include:

You will establish and manage relationships with medical and pharmacy benefit plans as well as lead contracting efforts for Pharmacy Clinical Services, ensuring that the organization secures favorable payer contracts. This role will involve developing collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, negotiating pricing and contract terms, adhering to the Pharmacy Clinical Services strategic playbook, and working with the Operations Committee to gain internal alignment and ensure smooth contract deployment. This role will be also responsible for staying informed on regulatory changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Candidate requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the expanded scope of pharmacists' practice

  • Deep knowledge of the payer landscape across all lines of business

  • Expertise in reviewing and negotiating payer contracts

  • Excellent communication skills and adept at managing relationships

  • Skill in analyzing market trends and establish mutually beneficial agreements with payers

  • Capability to manage multiple projects and reporting initiatives by collaborating with the sourcing director

  • Ability to successfully address contracting issues as they arise

  • Proficiency in effectively communicate updates and results to the director and senior leadership

Additional functions of this role will include:

  • P romoting and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to team members. Utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

  • Adhering to contracting guardrails, developing solutions based on financial modeling to drive cost savings and efficiencies, and proposing recommendations to the sourcing director. You will work closely with internal teams to develop business cases for new or enhanced payer relationships for Pharmacy Clinical Services.

  • Ensuring business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of contracting plans, programs, and initiatives. This position will be expected to consult with business partners, managers, co-workers, and other key stakeholders to evaluate and implement recommended improvements for increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

You will provide strategic direction by:

  • Assessing business objectives and customer needs

  • Developing, communicating, garnering support for, and executing business strategies, plans, and practices

  • Analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans

  • Measuring outcomes to ensure desired results

Vendor management, complex initiative reporting and enrollment process management functions are outlined below:

Oversees the vendor selection process to support the development of the reporting strategy by

  • working with sourcing managers to determine project requirements

  • creating cost models of different contract variables to assist with vendor negotiation

  • generating various scenarios to determine business benefits

  • assessing range of negotiation outcomes

  • assisting in the negotiations of vendor data terms

  • executing defined negotiation strategies to ensure business needs are met and strategies are aligned and monitoring vendor performance to ensure compliance with expectations.

Manages multiple complex reporting project initiatives by

  • working with sourcing managers to determine resource constraints

  • assisting in the review and revision of existing reporting metric standards

  • assisting with the incorporation of industry and company standards, reporting innovations, and best practices for demonstrating program value into reporting process

  • assisting with the development of localized reports to incorporate various types of data

  • ensuring proper process documentation for data comparisons by region

  • managing reporting strategy cadence based on events and audience

  • addressing issues as they arise and communicating updates and results to senior management.

Directs a segment of the healthcare contracting and enrollment process and execution by

  • reviewing multiple complex and subjective key performance indicators

  • identifying trends and forecasting potential scenarios impacting business continuity, sales, and timeliness of enrollment

  • managing inconsistent, competing, and shifting deadlines with layered due dates

  • overseeing the management of the information influx from multiple channels

  • influencing and collaborating with other stakeholders within the company

  • managing multiple complex regulatory projects in emerging markets and establishing metrics for measuring enrollment compliance.

Directs continuous improvement in vendor management and analyzes travel spending patterns for assigned category by

  • partnering with sourcing managers to develop sourcing plans

  • determining vendor implications based on strategy and initiatives

  • researching industry trends

  • benchmarking with industry leaders and competitors

  • utilizing product expertise to recognize industry trends and innovations

  • analyzing existing contracts and capabilities to determine areas of opportunity

  • developing solutions based on financial modeling to drive cost savings and efficiencies

  • making recommendations to sourcing managers

  • working with internal teams to develop business cases for new or enhanced vendor relationships

  • working with vendors to identify and promote service and product improvements and participating in the development of recommendations for changes to vendor agreements.

Manages strategic initiatives related to strategic programs to drive new sales and market share by

  • evaluating short and long-term return on investments in sales and profitability

  • analyzing current data and forecasts and assisting in developing and implementing appropriate action plans to achieve financial goals or initiatives

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by

  • identifying customer and operational needs

  • developing and communicating business plans and priorities

  • removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance

  • providing resources; identifying performance standards

  • measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly

  • developing contingency plans and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by

  • selecting and training, mentoring, assigning duties, building a team-based work environment

  • establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations

  • providing recognition and rewards

  • coaching for success and improvement and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by

  • training and providing direction to others in their use and application

  • ensuring compliance with them and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Ensures business needs are being met by

  • evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
