What you'll do...

The Director of Data Science will be responsible for leading a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers at Walmart. This team will primarily focus on developing and improving computer vision models and deploying in both cloud and edge environments.

The Director will be accountable for key deliverables, such as ensuring the team meets project deadlines and objectives. Additionally, they will play a crucial role in building and expanding the Data Science team, hiring and training new members, and fostering a positive team culture. The Director will collaborate closely with business stakeholders including executive level stakeholders to align on priorities, establish roadmaps, and address any challenges that arise along the way. Overall, this role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in Data Science and Machine Learning, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across different teams and departments be responsible for all computer vision machine learning models related to financial information including regular events that are outside of our control such as big seasonal weather anomalies, global supply chain interruptions, and holiday spikes.

Accountable for delivering roadmaps based on agreed upon deadlines with Engineering, Business, and Product/Program leaders. Be a culture champion to ensure this is a team that embodies the Walmart culture and a team atmosphere that attracts, develops, and retains top talent.

Work daily with data scientists on developing and enhancing models, and set the tone for what "good" looks like.

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
