Walmart (USA) Counsel, E2E Transportation in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As Counsel supporting the Transportation business unit, you will have hands-on direct engagement with Walmart's world-class Transportation operations teams. This position primarily provides legal advice and heavy contracting support for Walmart's private trucking fleet, motor carrier contracts, and maintenance agreements, as well as, product and technology, consulting, engineering, and other agreements related to transportation operations. Do not be deceived into thinking this is boring. Transportation is a dynamic fast-paced business segment within Walmart. Walmart operates one of the nation's largest private fleets with over 14,500 employee divers. Walmart also contracts with hundreds of other motor carriers across the country to move freight. Issues constantly come up needing legal advice.

Your expertise and advice will enable the Transportation business segment to make informed decisions quickly, assess and mitigate risk, and drive best-in-class operations.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Providing legal review and negotiation of commercial transportation matters and contracts

  • Providing legal advice to the company by providing internal business clients with an informed understanding of transactions, legal rights, obligations, and risks

  • Providing strategic legal and business advice to the company to facilitate long-term relationships with key partners

  • Collaborating with other Legal groups and subject matter experts to analyze and assess legal risks and provide seamless cross-functional support to your internal business clients

  • Developing business best practices and procedures that will mitigate corporate risk

  • Identifying the need for and overseeing outside legal support for business transactions and projects

  • Leveraging Walmart's selected technology platforms to streamline processes, communication, and workflows

You'll sweep us off our feet if...

  • You have significant legal experience in the transportation field related to working with motor carriers and/or freight brokers

  • You have experience working both in-house and at a law firm in commercial transactions / contracting or litigation

  • You have experience with actual contract drafting and document control

  • You are a solution-oriented strategic thinker with sound judgement, who will provide practical guidance and manage multiple complex matters

  • You have demonstrated the ability to move projects forward proactively by gaining support needed from stakeholders

  • You have a proven track record of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation

  • You have strong communication skills to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
