Position Summary...
As a Staff Software Engineer in Developer Productivity area, you will be at the forefront of shaping and optimizing the developer experience across Walmart Global Tech. In this role, you will have the opportunity to identify and eliminate friction points that hinder developer efficiency, designing and implementing innovative, scalable and impactful solutions that empower engineers to do their best work.

About Team:
Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.
What you'll do:
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, micro services and components using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Kafka, Docker, SQL, NoSQL Database, Cache etc
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, with a focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns, and configurations tools for faster development.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Set high standards for operational excellence and system observability
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and collaborate with other teams to resolve issues that span multiple functions.
Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and ensure seamless integration with other systems
Work with cloud platforms such as Azure to build scalable and secure applications
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve software development processes and techniques.
Mentor/coach other engineers in the team to facilitate their development and to provide technical leadership to them
Provide technical leadership for an agile development team of 6-8 engineers responsible for features and applications used in Developer Productivity area
What you'll bring:
At least 10+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems
8+ years hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP), Kafka (or other messaging service), Memcached or any caching technologies, relational DBMS ( PostGreSQL, MySQL, Oracle etc. ) and NoSQL Database like Cosmos, Cassandra, etc
Should be proficient in writing/reviewing design & code
Solid understanding of build, CI/CD & deployment pipelines and related technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, etc
Experience with real-time message processing using Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture
Deep Knowledge in Software architecture, Micro Services, Java based APIs and systems testing
Familiarity and exposure to Generative AI and LLM technologies
Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development
Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions
Knowledge of test automation, testing tools, Test driven and Behavior Driven Development
Familiarity and exposure to front-end technologies such as ReactJS is a plus
Familiarity and exposure to NodeJs is a plus.

Sunnyvale, California US-08479:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-09050:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
