Position Summary...
What you'll do...
As a Staff Software Engineer , you’ll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You’ll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.
What you'll do…
Leads the design phase of large software engineering projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine project strategy; interpreting strategy into sustainable architecture and solutions; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timelines; driving prototype development to ensure concept is feasible
Leads project teams for engineering projects by providing direction regarding architecture and design; providing guidance regarding project issues or roadblocks; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes; ensure stability and scalability of the platform
Direct root cause analysis of business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); interpreting the results to determine further action; directing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues
Models’ compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open-Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
About the team
Our team In-Store Shopping Experiences is responsible for enabling omni-service experiences for customers that want to engage with us online or in-stores for custom services focusing on many aspects of their day-to-day life. Walmart is investing in transforming these spaces with latest technology and we are looking for talented individuals who can use their engineering skills to help our teams solve complex problems.
What you’ll bring:
Experience in backend tech stack such as Java, NodeJS, microservices and relational/non-relational databases (SQL/No-SQL)
Experience with DevOps practices, particularly CI/CD, to support effective development and deployment processes.
Experience in building and managing large scale distributed, scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems.
Experience in messaging Systems using Kafka and containerizing applications using Kubernetes
Ability to leverage public cloud such as Azure and tune up production environments through systematic alerting and logging strategies
Effective problem-solving skills, ability to make design tradeoffs, balancing the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work on multiple requirements and features concurrently.
Mentoring/coaching junior engineers in technical problem solving and career advancement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create robust documentation.
Practitioner of Agile or Scrum methodology
Experience in e-commerce domain preferred

Sunnyvale, California US-04396:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-10424:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
