GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Loan Assistant is an administrative position providing clerical services and related duties specific to and supportive of the Saline Co. lending staff of MNB; enables officers to effectively generate quality loans for the bank and insure all required documentation is received and provided timely to Loan Operations in order to complete the lending process. The individual must display superior customer service skills; Insure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and legal requirements; Maintain utmost confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with customers; Involves the skilled use of a computer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently deliver phenomenal customer service through aggressive friendliness accompanied by honest, positive, and confident behaviors (in-house and on the phone).
Provide loan information to existing customers (e.g. payments, taxes, transfers, balances, etc.)
Schedule appointments with lenders.
Assist loan customers, Loan Officers, and Loan Operations with all aspects of the loan process.
Order credit reports, flood determinations, appraisals, title work, various verifications, and any other supporting loan documentation.
Order inspections on construction loans and advance funds.
Perform construction loan draws on all construction loans once approved by the loan officer.
Maintain construction loan files for each officer.
Monitor loan collateral, financial & covenant expectations in Teslar, and work in clearing them.
Work with tax accountants on behalf of business customers.
Coordinate loan closing with borrower, lender, and other interested parties.
Review all loan closing documents to ensure accuracy and that all collateral is properly secured.
Close loans.
Fund loans and prepare various loan transaction tickets.
Ship closed loan file to Loan Operations.
Complete any follow-up, collateral, or documentation expectations.
Contribute to the overall branch goals through intentional conversations and relationship building with customers in efforts to cross sell bank's other financial services.
Successfully complete compliance training; Adhere to internal controls and procedures; Understand and comply with bank policies as well as regulations and laws applicable to your position.
Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations through utmost confidentiality
Perform any other related duties as may be required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required
Associate's Degree in business field (e.g. accounting, business admin, finance); or two (2) years related work experience/training in business field required.
Four-year college degree preferred
Minimum two (2) years work experience in lending department required
One (1) year loan assistant experience preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Loan Assistant must be able to

Communicate effectively (both oral and written)
Compose or create loan documents and correspondence
Successfully manage assigned tasks independently while meeting time constraints
Calculate figures and amounts (e.g. discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, etc.); apply mathematic concepts (e.g. fractions, ratios, proportions, etc.)
Exhibit strong analytic skills while organizing information
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where limited standardization exists
Multi-task and rotate job tasks with seamless flexibility
Read, understand and comply with documents (e.g. policy manuals, laws, regulations, internal procedures and controls, etc.) and exercise independent judgement, initiative, and discretion based on knowledge of such in performing daily activities

Exercise trustworthy service, courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
Efficiently use standard office equipment (i.e. desktop/laptop computer and software, copier, scanners, printers, fax, 10-key calculator, multi-line telephone system, etc.)
