Associate Global Category Manager - Hybrid (m/w/d)

Metal Forming & Casting parts / Mechanics

As an Associate Global Category Manager for the Metal Forming Parts / Mechanics categories, you’ll work in close collaboration with the Global Category Manager (GCM) for Metal Forming Parts & Mechanics. In close collaboration with the GCM, and under his supervision, you will lead some sourcing activities (RFI/RFP) and drive some supplier relationships. As you grow into the role, you will manage in autonomy specific sub-categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Global Category Manager to execute purchasing and supply strategies that maximize supply continuity, growth potential, and profitability

  • Support RFI / RFP process, maximizing usage of our e-Sourcing tool, perform RFP analysis and prepare sourcing proposals

  • Work on spend analysis, prepare spend report

  • Ensure suppliers are properly classified, support supplier reclassification when needed to ensure the spend is properly reported in the system

  • In close collaboration with the GCM, support key initiatives related to dual sourcing, Best Cost Countries, and Business Continuity Plans

  • In this position you will be relied on to work critical supplier escalations, coordinate with the Global Category Managers and Site Local Buyers to solve issues

  • Act as the first point of contact for manufacturing site (main locations: Germany and the USA)

  • Ensure ZERO (0) material shortage in daily purchasing

  • Communicate overall market & category trends/results to Global Category Manager and stakeholders (e.g., Buyers, R&D, Manufacturing)

  • Under the supervision of the GCM, you will lead a portfolio of sub-categories

  • As you grow in the role start managing some sub-category in full autonomy

  • As business needs may arise, some responsibilities may evolve over time.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Procurement, or a related field

  • 3+ years’ experience in Procurement in an international, multi-site organization; experience working closely with Operations

  • Experience in Metal and / or mechanical procurements would be a plus

  • Experience in medical/pharma industry would be a plus

  • Proven success in leading multiple projects & priorities

  • Excellent commercial instincts & business acumen with strong negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented attitude

  • Ability to develop strategic, high business impact supply relationships with a proven track record in delivering results

  • Excellent communication skills in English (min. C1) and German (min. C1)

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and cultural sensitivity; ability to adapt communication style to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Continuous improvement mindset with flexibility and adaptability
