Overview

Healthcare Services Group is looking for a Corporate Nutrition Manager, RD (CNM, RD)!

This role is a leadership position is a hybrid role reporting to the National Director Clinical Service & Nutrition Management. The role will assist in establishing a competitive edge to the business and its customers with nutrition advisory and leadership, expanding market presence and providing technical support to field operations and the clinical team. This RDN role calls for an understanding of various business segments, the value of nutrition and its needs within a variety of senior living, hospital and recovery care settings as well as the dynamics of delivery across these settings. This role requires solid leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, often working in a matrix environment.

This department leader will direct, coordinate and supervise activities of the dining nutrition team, including Menu Specialist and System Analysts. This role will work closely with the Director of Procurement, Division/Regional Chef team, and field-based dining operations teams to develop menus in alignment with sourcing, cultural inclusivity , sustainability, and financial goals.

The CNM will provide technical direction for all nutrition-related design work, implementation and reporting across HCSGs program portfolio and will contribute to new business development initiatives as necessary. This position will be responsible for developing the tools and nutrition-sensitive program concepts across the organization. Additionally, the CNM will provide technical support to the clinical and operations teams.

The CNM is a valued resource for clinical nutrition concerns possessing strong clinical nutrition knowledge in the continuum of long term care. The CNM maintains clinical knowledge through certification(s), membership in professional organization(s), and/or organizational committees.

Responsibilities:

Menu Planning and Development:

  • Under the direction of the National Director, the CNM will be responsible for developing cycle menus and therapeutic extensions that are compliant with federal and local regulations and contract standards.

  • In conjunction with the National Director, collaborate with the chef team, operations team and sales team to develop menus that meet clients’ and customers’ needs.

  • Develop cycle and quarterly menus that meet meal pattern requirements for all meal programs.

  • Analyze recipes and menus to ensure they meet nutritional standards and provide adequate calories, macronutrients and micronutrients for residents and patients.

  • Ensure menus are compliant and meet all federal, local and contract requirements.

  • Create menu cycle accommodations for common dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, Kosher, and vegan.

  • Help identify recipe testing needs (to include products, recipes, and packaging) in alignment with menu development schedule, establish recipe testing deadlines, engage in recipe development, product research, and taste tests, and monitor progress towards recipe testing goals.

  • Collaborate with operations and chef teams to ensure menus are feasible and can be prepared with available resources.

  • Coordinate promotional menus to support themed meals and national food days.

  • Periodically participate in food quality monitoring at communities to inform menu development.

  • Develop, approve and maintain the Company Diet Manual.

    Menu System Management:

  • Utilize the menu planning system to maintain a database of ingredients and recipes, create and update menus, and to generate nutrient analysis, production records, and other menu compliance documentation.

  • Maintain and continually develop the Company's menu management platform and integration with client eEMRs, along with related training material.

  • Lead bi-weekly business reviews with business partners and participate in ad hoc meetings, as appropriate.

    Other:

  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the team, setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback and ensuring their professional growth and development.

  • Implement department policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of menu services.

  • Provide support to operations and clinical teams to ensure standards of practice, standards of care, nutrition and HCSG policies and procedures are followed throughout the organization.

  • Work in close collaboration with HCSGs field operations and new business development teams in support of key initiatives. Contribute to nutrition and food safety education for the organization and its clients.

  • Assist with nutrition education program development and execution as needed and maintain general working knowledge of nutrition engagement activities to ensure cohesive, consistent, mission-aligned programming.

  • Under the direction of the DNS, conduct competitive market research and analysis related to other menu management products and services.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and scientific findings in the nutrition and wellness field.

  • Participate in committees and build consensus to build evidenced-based nutrition practices across the enterprise.

  • Take responsibility for self-development through continuing education.

    Job Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field required.

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in foodservice/nutrition, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.

  • Experience in menu planning systems required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
