Oracle Sr Principal Software Developer in BENGALURU, India

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Database Cloud Engineer with expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) to support, enhance, and manage our Database Cloud Service . This service is responsible for building database software images for customers based on their inputs of Patch/RU numbers and custom one-off patches. The ideal candidate will oversee the architecture, deployment, operations, and continuous improvement of this service across all OCI commercial and restricted realms .

Preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in Oracle Database , OCI, Kubernetes (OKE), and DevOps .

  • Strong Knowledge of database patching, Oracle Database upgrades, and Oracle RU/One-Off Patch management

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services , including Compute, Storage, Networking, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Logging .

  • Hands-on experience with OKE (Oracle Kubernetes Engine) , including scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.

  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Helm charts, Kubernetes Operators, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible).

  • Experience in managing multi-region, multi-realm OCI deployments

  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, or Go for automation.

  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OCI Logging, or ELK stack).

  • Good understanding of security best practices in cloud-native environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OCI Certifications ( OCI Architect Professional, OCI DevOps, or Kubernetes-related certs )

  • Experience in multi-cloud/hybrid cloud deployments

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Service Enhancement & Engineering:

  • Improve the image-building workflow based on customer inputs (Patch/RU numbers and custom patches).

  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows for efficient patch and image generation.

  • Work closely with Database RU teams to incorporate new features based on the new family of patches that get released to the customers.

Operations & Deployment Management:

  • Ensure smooth deployment, scaling, and maintenance of the Database Cloud Service on OCI.

  • Manage and optimize OKE clusters , ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Terraform, OCI Shepherd, Helm, and Kubernetes Operators .

  • Monitor service health and troubleshoot performance or availability issues.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with OCI security standards across commercial and restricted realms.

  • Implement security best practices, including IAM policies, VCN configurations, and container security.

  • Handle data encryption, RBAC policies, and network security configurations.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work with OCI Support, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to resolve issues.

  • Collaborate with database engineers to optimize image-building and patching mechanisms.
