Oracle Senior Cloud Engineer / Performance Specialist (OASE) in BENGALURU, India

Who are we looking for?

Oracle Analytics Service Excellence (OASE) partners with the development team within Oracle Analytics to improve uptime of the services offered (Oracle Analytics Cloud, Fusion Data Intelligence primarily).

The ideal candidate is looking to work in an agile environment on problems that are focused on improving uptime by reducing time to mitigation when issues are surfaced/reported by automated means or through customer incidents; contributing to code for automation of monitoring, patching, and remediation of service anomalies; and, working on projects that enable the business of Oracle Analytics to grow profits or shrink costs as they are identified and funded as priorities for our group to drive or participate in the proposed solutions.

This specific role will have an initial focus on automating a repeatable set of representative customer workloads and comparing performance from build to build while looking for negative and positive performance anomalies. The goals is to build from scratch the modeling of the workloads, storage, loading, and performance testing metrics collection and reporting of the workload performance against data of appropriate representative customer scale. This will involve development of code from scratch including the design, documentation, shepherding through approval of architecture, and implementation; cloud services; CI/CD pipeline of the solution; automation of data loads; working with performance testers to simulate load; collection and reporting of metrics to identify anomalies in performance.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform DevOps activities to support customers, engineers, and processes through our release cycles as well as production

  • Participate in a follow-the-sun model for 24x7 support of Oracle Analytics services

  • Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues and drive to completion, driving and participate in root cause analysis

  • Become expert in Analytic services, to prevent, resolve customer issues effectively and prevent regressions and repeats

  • Document various processes & runbooks; update existing processes

  • Execute, with excellence, delivery of interim patches and hotfixes as required

  • Work with various teams to take ownership of and resolve service failure/outages.

  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve the CI and CD tools utilized by the team

  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company

  • Mentor and train other engineers and seek to continually improve processes

  • Other duties as assigned

The candidate requires knowledge and experience with:

  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Providing cloud networking, infrastructure, and service support, configuration, operations, tools, and processes

  • Understand networking, and TCP/IP fundamentals and services such as DNS, HTTP, etc.

  • Linux/Unix system administration including system level knowledge of Linux on OCI Gen 2, creating and executing scripts

  • Experience developing & operating cloud services or large distributed applications in production.

  • Methodical approaches to troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems, reverse engineering existing applications.

  • Producing documentation in support of developed work (KBs, run books, help guides)

  • Utilizing agile methodologies

  • Communicating effectively in a team environment

  • Working with remote, global teams as well as individuals

  • Working independently and in a self-directed manner

  • Able to work extended week day and week-end shifts as required for on-call, after hours upgrades, and other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge and experience with:

  • Knowledge of Oracle Analytics server, BI publisher, Oracle Analytics; Oracle database, Oracle Autonomous DB, MySQL (experience with MS SQL and/or NoSQL is a plus)

  • 5+ years of experience of running large scale customer facing Web Applications.

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS, Azure, GCP compute, storage, and network operational experience.

  • Programming and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, bash, Java Script - additional experience with PHP, Groovy, Java, and/or Go is a plus)

  • Using CI/CD scripting tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

  • Experience in Cloud Native application development using Containers and orchestration ( Kubernetes) independently scalable microservices

  • Experience in REST API design and development

  • Issue tracking and collaboration (Jira and Confluence).
