About the Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Principal DevOps Engineer for our growing team based in Bengaluru India. Our cloud-first SaaS platform is built using Distributed Microservices Architecture, on Linux, Java, Oracle & MySQL; we use RabbitMQ as our messaging backbone and NoSQL databases like Redis, DynamoDB, Neo4j, etc. Our SaaS platform is regarded as one of the best solutions in the world; in its category. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. At over one million lines of code, you’ll be working with large, highly-trafficked, scalable applications. Quality and high availability is of extreme importance to us, so we're looking for a Principle DevOps engineer that takes a pragmatic and passionate approach to technology to solve problems and keeps the application uptime high. In this role, you will work directly with many areas of our platform including managing the entire CrowdTwist infrastructure. You will be involved in many different projects as we continue to grow and enhance our platform.

Your work will span many areas of the CrowdTwist platform, including but not limited to:

  • Managing CrowdTwist's cloud infrastructure (OCI) and virtualization environments

  • Develop and maintain the deployment pipeline and all other sandbox and test environments to enable engineering teams

  • Work closely with the engineering teams to deliver high quality, high availability platform solutions

This role is for a DevOps engineer who loves to roll up their sleeves, dive in, and tackle any problem with speed and precision. Taking initiative and being organized and solutions-focused is a must. You will be utilizing your experience with systems administration, agile development practices and performance monitoring to build high-performance, scalable, and fault tolerant web and data processing applications. Some of our current initiatives are rolling out full continuous deployment, implementing infrastructure as code everywhere, and deploying the application to data centers in multiple geographical regions. We operate in an agile manner, so you must thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy shipping product.

About You:

  • Have a BE/B. Tech/M. Tech in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Have 8+ years of professional experience in Linux administration

  • Have high level knowledge of shell scripting

  • Have working experience with OCI or other cloud platforms like Azure, AWS or GCP

  • Have working experience with Kubernetes.

  • Have working experience with configuration management tooling (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform etc.) and dev environment tools (GitHub, GitLab, Docker).

  • Understand concepts related to continuous integration and deployment (parallelized build pipelines, automated testing).

  • Have working experience designing, deploying and supporting highly scalable cloud-based applications and architectures without downtime.

  • Have experience with support and on-call responsibilities.

  • Love automating everything and building out informative monitoring dashboards

Bonus Points:

  • Experience administering multiple data-centers in multiple countries

  • Experience with network security, firewalls/ACLs, VPN services, and directory services

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

  • Experience with Akamai

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of infrastructure and DevOps applications.

In this role, you will work with a broad tech stack, including but not limited to:

  • Oracle

  • Apache

  • Java microservices

  • RabbitMQ

  • Redis

  • Docker

  • IDCS

  • APEX

  • Oracle Cloud Services on OCI

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
