Primary Purpose

The Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Program Administrator is responsible for facilitation and instruction for the COCC manufacturing pre-apprenticeship program including credit and non-credit courses.

This is a grant funded position with secure funding through June 2025, and is not guaranteed beyond that date.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management and Supervision:

  • Deliver to the HECC Strategic Innovation grant as outlined in the grant agreement.

  • Responsible for development, implementation, management, and oversight of COCC manufacturing

  • pre-apprenticeship courses.

  • Schedule courses/facilities and purchase/maintain equipment and supplies.

  • In cooperation with the apprenticeship program manager and manufacturing technology program director, provide oversight of Part-Time pre-apprenticeship faculty (recruiting, hiring, orienting, supervising, training, and evaluating).

  • Promote the best practices and trends around existing pre-apprenticeship programs throughout the state.

  • Conduct college business in a professional and ethical manner that includes the College’s core values of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Instruction and Advising:

  • Instruct lecture (in-person or online) and lab courses at several different sites (courses may be run during the day, evening, or on weekends) as needed.

  • Design, coordinate, update, schedule and maintain pre-apprenticeship courses/curriculum in accordance with state standards and BOLI regulations.

  • Assist in classroom setup, computers, laboratories, and other support equipment required for classes as necessary.

  • Advise pre-apprenticeship students and manage student internship opportunities in partnership with the pre-apprenticeship career coach.

Reporting, Compliance and Partnerships:

  • In conjunction with the Apprenticeship Program Manager, act as COCC pre-apprenticeship Program Administrator/liaison to BOLI ensuring that COCC remains in good standing with Bureau of Labor and Industry ( BOLI ) and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

  • Track student enrollment, attendance and academic progress; submit student-grading information using college systems.

  • Connect, collaborate, establish and maintain partnerships for manufacturing pre-apprenticeship with local, regional school and industry partners.

  • Work within the COCC Center for Business and Professional Development ( CBIPD ) to provide contracts and support documents for delivery of the pre-apprenticeship program to regional partners.

  • Monitor pre-apprenticeship program budgets.

  • Assist with program assessment and program review.

  • Perform other essential functions as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

    Ergonomic Requirements

Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments using trade specific equipment, tools, computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. This program may involve extensive travel, up to three weeks, in order to deliver the traveling pre-apprenticeship program. Travel includes operating a full-size pickup pulling a trailer.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • AAS in manufacturing, Welding, Education, or related field.

Experience:

  • Two years’ demonstrated successful teaching, or evidence for the potential for excellence in teaching.

  • One-year relevant experience working in an apprenticeship related field.

License:

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license or the ability to obtain within 30-days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience:

  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing related field.

  • Work experience in a higher education environment.

  • Supervision or management experience in the field of manufacturing.

Certifications:

  • History of AWS , API , or ASME welding certification. Current certification preferred.
