This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). MNIT DNR provides comprehensive IT operations and support services, custom application development, and dedicated support functions to an organization that manages and conserves the state’s natural resources in a way that creates a sustainable quality of life for all Minnesotans.

As the Microsoft 365 (M365) Platform System Administrator for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), you will administer and support the M365 platform of solutions, including but not limited to SharePoint, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other assigned vendor-based platforms and business systems for the Department of Natural Resources. You will be responsible for creating, configuring, and maintaining advanced solutions that drive efficiency and innovation within the agency, and will provide support and training to end-users. You will help guide end-users to gain the knowledge to effectively utilize agency-level platform systems and tools. This role will be crucial in supporting citizen developers within the agency to help foster a culture of self-service and continuous learning. This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate these qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting and monitoring enterprise software applications, including end user support and performance monitoring.

Experience must include:

  • Administering business-wide technical platforms, including SharePoint, Power BI, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, or similar enterprise platforms.

  • PowerShell for SharePoint administration, automation, or customization tasks.

  • Power BI Service (publishing, sharing, and managing reports).

  • Providing technical assistance to staff to promote the proper understanding and use of business-related datasets, procedures, and applications.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing SharePoint infrastructure including developing and managing content databases and site collections.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Active Directory, security models, access controls, and data protection within M365, SharePoint, and Power Platform.

  • Proficiency with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective training content for end-users, covering both introductory and advanced topics.

  • Experience creating and administering solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power Apps, Power Pages, and Power Automate

  • Strong working knowledge of Azure administration tools and interface.
