JOB REQUIREMENTS: Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information. Translate messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages, orally or by using hand signs, maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible. Listen to speakers\' statements to determine meanings and to prepare translations, using electronic listening systems as necessary. Compile terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms such as those for legal or medical material. Refer to reference materials, such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks, as needed to ensure translation accuracy. Check translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions. Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors. Compile information on content and context of information to be translated and on intended audience. Check original texts or confer with authors to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material. Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills/Abilities Ability to efficiently carry out Community Health System, Inc. mission statement. Ability to read, write and speak the English language and Spanish to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear and professional manner. Ability to interpret with highest degree of accuracy and completeness. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical ethics, interpreting fundamentals and intercultural communication. Possess strong writing skills and understanding of translation process. Familiarity and ability to work with diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to prioritize and organize efficiently. Ability to work independently and with others. Knowledge and ability to work the following office machines: computer, telephone, copier, fax and calculator. Knowledge of all functions and related tasks in the area of customer relations Knowledge of Office procedures Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to read and respond to emails in a timely fashion. Ability to identify and maintain confidential/HIPPA information.
