Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join our team of fungible engineers helping drive strategic initiatives within the AFT Inbound domain. As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have deep hands on experience designing and developing highly scalable and highly available systems in native AWS with cutting edge technologies. You will also have experience partnering closely with product, operations, and stakeholders to deliver critical new features and products for the business. You will also partner with Science team to build Machine Learning (ML) models to automate defect detection and resolution.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon can accurately process the inventory without defects with lower cost

Inbound

AFT’s Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazon’s vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Experience leading and influencing your team or organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
