The DSP Analytics Team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to make an impact on the Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program.

The goal of Amazon’s DSP organization is to exceed the expectations of our customers by ensuring that their orders, no matter how large or small, are delivered as quickly, accurately, and cost effectively as possible. DSP analytics team is seeking a highly-motivated and exceptional Sr Data Engineer who can think holistically through multidimensional problems to understand how systems work together to identify and execute both tactical and strategic data engineering projects. If you are passionate about big data technologies, building scalable real time analytical solutions, relentless in ensuring data quality and reliability, and feel comfortable communicating at different levels of leadership, you are the candidate we are looking for! In this role, you will envision, design and develop ground breaking data solutions to scale science feature storage and management, improve telematics signal coverage and quality, and promote efficiency in DSP capacity planning processes. You should be passionate about helping the organization move towards data as a service model to influence day-to-day business decisions. You will guide junior data engineers, business intelligence engineers, tech team members and leaders to make informed data decisions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop DSP data products, infrastructure and data pipelines leveraging AWS services (such as Redshift, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda etc.) and internal Amazon tools (Datanet, Cradle, QuickSight etc.)

  • Improve existing solutions and come up with next generation DSP Data Architecture to improve scale, quality, timeliness, coverage, monitoring and security

  • Work closely with business/tech stakeholders and leadership team to define the engineering roadmap and structure of our data solutions

  • Collaborate with Science teams to scale feature storage and management

  • Lead design reviews for other Data Engineers on the team and actively participate in design reviews of related DSP tech products

  • Provide technical and thought leadership for Data Engineering and Business Intelligence within DSP org

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources

  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of data engineering experience

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Proven record of successfully guiding and mentoring tech team members such as Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
