Amazon SDM, Delivery Experience - Regionalization Engineering in Bellevue, Washington

We are looking for an Engineering leader for the Delivery Experience AI team to help ensure we have the most compelling and relevant shopping experience available to our customers, and help drive continuous innovation and improvement of the delivery experience through Artificial Intelligence.

As a Manager of Software Development in the Amazon Delivery Experience AI team, you will lead a high quality, creative, visionary software development team to build and innovate the technology system that powers delivery programs for Amazon customers around the world, and create intelligent LLM (large-language model) application to revolutionize the operation of Delivery Experience platforms. You will work closely with science teams to deliver machine learning solutions. You will make a huge, measurable impact to Amazon’s customers and retail business, and build and innovate solutions that are simple and easy to maintain and scale. You are great at hiring, growing, and mentoring engineers, and cultivating leadership capabilities. Previous experience in collaborating with remote teams is a plus.

Key job responsibilities

o Own development of their systems end-to-end

o Provide technical direction in a highly ambiguous environment

o Establish and execute short and long-term architectural roadmaps for the business

o Continue to innovate on the framework to support delivery programs worldwide

o Manage team focused on creating the complex back-end architecture

o Drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the business platform while Keeping an extremely high bar for customer trust, performance, and availability

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

  • Experience of launching large scale machine learning solutions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
