Required Skills:

Production Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.

2. Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.

3. Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans.

4. Debug the problems in real time in highly complex software systems.

5. Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.

6. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

7. Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 36 months of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Foreign equivalent accepted. Requires 36 months of experience involving the following skills:

8. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals

9. TCP/IP network fundamentals

10. Coding in at least one of the following higher-level programming languages: PHP, Python, or C++

11. Software frameworks and APIs

12. Performing “guerilla capacity planning” for internet service architectures

13. Maintaining applications using at least one of the following: web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems, or messaging systems

14. Relational Databases including MySQL

15. Network protocols including at least one of the following: NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP

16. Network Management tools like DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP

17. Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues ranging from low-level hardware issues to large scale failures within datacenter clusters

18. Service meshes and microservice architectures (such as Envoy, Istio, or Linkerd) and

19. Experience with integration testing, including failure injection (Chaos monkey style architectures).

$182,924/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits
