AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: AMD Research and Advanced Development is seeking a researcher to invent and implement novel hardware architectures and programming models for high performance computing systems comprised of heterogeneous processors and accelerators. THE PERSON: You love inventing and implementing new features, APIs and abstractions to increase efficiency and optimize performance. You love bringing new systems to life and developing software that shows the full power of novel hardware architectures. THE PERSON: This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Invent, design and implement novel hardware architectures, programming models and runtime environments for machine learning and high performance computing systems comprised of heterogeneous processors and accelerators Investigate networking architectures with an emphasis on optimizing cluster-scale applications that are bounded by memory and/or inter-node communication performance Drive research innovation from initial concept to completing technology transfer to the product team A powerful desire to learn new skills and understand new features as they are added Proven record of accomplishment of working within and across groups. Effective communication skills Responsible for exploring opportunities to improve product Work closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve and enhance products PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in developing and debugging GPU and/or multi-threaded CPU applications. Distributed system experience is desired as well. Use of event-driven networking simulation platforms (NS-3, OMNeT++, etc.) is also desired Prior exposure to ML/HPC/datacenter software, middleware and device driver development, and familiarity with ML frameworks, OpenSHMEM, or MPI programming models are preferred. Experience with the AMD ROCm software stack. Experience running, analyzing, and system benchmarks Solid programming skills in Python, C, or C++ Demonstrated experience in ideation, evaluation, and optimization of a research project. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to organize and present complex technical information. Strong analytical skills. Version control systems such as Git. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: PhD degree in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering preferred.
