The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution at Benner Township is seeking a dedicated, creative, and well-organized Social Worker 1 to participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of social work and case management services to inmates. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker 1 for the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will establish and maintain connections with a variety of DOC and community personnel to coordinate the provision of tailored services to meet the specific needs of the inmates within the institution. A significant and fulfilling aspect of the job is working one-on-one with inmates. This allows you to witness firsthand the inmates' active involvement in the process of change. You will be tasked with determining the appropriate services, programs, and treatments required by the inmates.

Additionally, you will be responsible for assessing inmate psychosocial strengths, weaknesses, and social work services needs and eligibility for services. You will be assisting with reentry and continuity of care services to all eligible inmates. This will include arranging continuity of care and reentry assessments for inmates. You will also determine eligibility for various groups and special programs, as well as assist with coordinating reentry related program reviews. Another crucial aspect of the role will be your participation in developing, implementing, and updating general information and orientation programs for inmates in the reentry process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (37.5 hour work week) Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or social welfare. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement: As an employee in the Department of Corrections, you must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet thePA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the linkand click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
