JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking to hire a caring individual to provide respite services to patients, in their home on an as needed basis.

The Respite Care Provider is a member of the Heartland team who works under the supervision of a dedicated care team performing various companionship services for patients as necessary to relieve the patients primary caregiver, providing companionship and opportunities for personal connection. Additionally, the Respite Care Provider is responsible for engaging patients and caregivers, providing quality service, making meaningful connections, while assisting with basic daily living tasks. The Respite Care Provider is an integral part of the Heartland team, as they have the opportunity to engage, encourage life review and sharing of stories, and developing relationships with patients and their families while working to prevent caregiver burnout and maintain patients in their home.

The Respite Care Provider will be assigned to specific patients and their families in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patients care.

Responsibilities
  • Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality.
  • Meeting the safety needs of patients and using equipment as needed safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.)
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals, including shopping, as assigned.
  • Assisting in feeding the patient as assigned.
  • Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support
  • Assessing and reporting on patients condition and significant changes to the care team.
Requirements
  • Proven working experience as an in-home aide (preferred)
  • Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards
  • Proficiency in English
  • Basic knowledge and capability of using technology for recording purposes
  • Caring and compassionate personality
  • Valid drivers license
  • High school degree

Pay:Determined upon experience, skills, education, and training.

Standard shift:

  • Day shift

Weekly schedule:

  • As Needed, No Set Schedule

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • In-Home Care: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Drivers License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 100% (Preferred)
