Grocery Shift Leader

Grocery Department, Belfast Community Co-op

FLSA Status/ Pay Level: Nonexempt/3 Reports to: Grocery Assistant Manager and/or Grocery Manager

The Grocery Shift Leader is responsible for sales floor outcomes including the daily completion of task lists,

fully-stocked shelves, excellent customer service, and any tasks assigned by department management. The Shift

Leader position delegates tasks to the grocery clerks and monitors efficiency. This role provides feedback to

department management about personnel and process and ensures the smooth operation of all aspects of the

Grocery Department, particularly during management absence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reviews daily schedule and organizes workflow in order to accomplish tasks as set by management

? With input from management, delegates tasks in order of importance and supervises the successful

achievement of daily goals and objectives

? Communicates effectively to leadership to ensure a smoothly run department

? Works with management to review workflow goals that maximize outcomes

Provides daily leadership to grocery department

? In absence of management, holds workers accountable to expectations by providing in-the-moment

redirection and feedback

? Serves as point person for customer questions or concerns and relays them to appropriate parties

? Leads by example and works alongside grocery department clerks to accomplish stated goals

? Provides feedback to management for appropriate training opportunities and workflow adjustments, works

with management to provide training

Essential Functions of all Belfast Community Co-op Leadership positions:

? Maintains an awareness of Belfast Community Co-op as an entire organization and collaborates with others

on how individual changes/operations within a department can affect the rest of the organization

? Models exceptional customer service to internal & external customers, both in person & via phone.

? Assists in the creation and development of departmental targets.

? Maintains working knowledge of reports and metrics

? Relays information to and from the Leadership Team concerning operations. Ensures use of

departmental communication tools to communicate other topics staff need to know in

accordance with Belfast Community Co-ops Communications SOP

? Ensures the smooth operation of department functions

? Upholds Belfast Co-ops Leadership Qualities, Code of Conduct, Expectations of Staff, and Values

? Acts as all store leadership - Provides leadership and direction during busy times and in the absence of

department managers. Responds promptly and professionally to concerns, complaints, and requests

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abiliti es)

Preferred:

? Experience in a warehouse/stocking environment

? Experience working with ECRS Catapult

? Supervisory experience

Minimum:

? Ability to to communicate effectively in a high-volume work environment

? Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and powerjack

? Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)

? Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

? Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
