Fortive Corporation Process Engineer in Belfast, United Kingdom

Position: Process Engineer

Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The Process Engineer will be part of the team that develops and sustains manufacturing processes, systems, and tools that actively contribute to our continuous improvement efforts. We strive each day to meet and exceed our customers’ and employees’ expectations for safety, quality, on-time-delivery, cost, and inventory – the Process Engineer will be a key contributor in ensuring that our production lines are setup to succeed in each of these key performance indicators and metrics. Additionally, you will be leading our efforts to review and provide feedback on the requirements, specifications, and designs for new products that transition from R&D into production, and to ensure overall quality and reliability of Qualitrol’s new products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· Optimize facility layout, production lines, machine operations and Mfg. network performance.

· Investigate, analyze, develop, and determine critical processes and process improvements for existing products across the three production Value Streams.

· Develop and determine innovative processes for new products transitioning into production, working with the cross-functional teams required, using tools such as DFMEA, DFM/S, variation reduction, six-sigma, etc.

· Plan equipment layout and workflow to maintain the safe and efficient utilization of plant resources.

· Contribute to and lead the development of new and innovative methods, tooling, test systems, and machine designs that reduce cycle time and improve productivity and quality.

· To be instrumental in coordinating Kaizen (continuous improvement) activities with special emphasis on FBS (Fortive Business System) principles that include standard work, one-piece flow, daily visual management, problem solving, and 5S.

· Actively collaborate with design engineering, quality and the supply chain teams as needed to execute projects using tools such as DFMEA, DFM/S, variation reduction, six-sigma, etc.

· Lead the planning, research, design, and development of manufacturing engineering projects.

· Conduct duties in accordance with established quality management standards (ISO 9001:2015).

· Actively support Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.

· Supports on-going compliance and certification programs such as: ISO & OSHA

· Integrate disparate systems (e.g. equipment handling, transport) and develop and test effective automated and manual systems.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

· Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics engineering, or equivalent.

· 4 years of manufacturing/ process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 years of which should be in a lean manufacturing environment.

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design and p rocess improvement and knowledge of process control is essential.

· Working knowledge of Design for manufacturability and serviceability (DFM/S), and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

· Demonstrated lean and critical thinking in a production environment.

· Demonstrated analytical/statistical problem-solving skills.

· Hands-on mechanical ability, building/ repairing tools and fixtures.

· Must be proficient using spreadsheets to aid analysis, using MS office tool kit.

· Proficient in database tools and ability to use programing language for modifying/maintaining databases and reporting purposes.

· Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.

· Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.

· Good working knowledge of ISO9001-:2015 Quality Management System.

· Well-versed in drawing software (e.g. Autocad, Inventor, Solidworks)

· Working knowledge of UL, CE, and other compliance standards used in the electrical utility industry is desirable but not essential.

· Project management skills – Prince Qualification is desirable but not essential.

· Experience of Labview programming is desirable but not essential.

· Ability to integrate and work well in a team environment, strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities dynamically with little direct supervision.

· Ability to work flexible hours.
