Job Purpose and Impact

The Grain Marketing Associate will, with guidance from a Grain Marketing Advisor and the local team, help sell the company's portfolio of technical and nontechnical products, services and solutions directly to current and new customers. In this role, you will develop an understanding of business, financials, products and services, the market or the needs and challenges of assigned accounts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in a development program to prepare you to become a successful commodity Advisor where you will be providing a consultative service with commodity customers.

  • Partner with commodity and risk management experts to develop technical expertise.

  • Build knowledge on multiple aspects of the position through formal training, peer shadowing and hands-on experience.

  • Help support development and delivery of marketsense, proposals and presentations and help conduct product demonstrations.

  • Build, monitor and revise lead generation plans to develop substantive sales opportunities.

  • Help assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products, services and solutions.

  • Build, develop and maintain internal and external customer relationships.

  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/certificate or bachelor’s degree (Agriculture, Agribusiness) in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Experienced in or interest in learning the Canadian grain industry, agricultural production and farm management.

  • Possess a valid Canadian driver’s licence in good standing authorizing you to drive independently during your employment.

  • Able to travel as needed

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the agricultural industry

  • Comprehension of Risk Management Tools

  • Consulting and value-based selling experience

  • Familiar with commodity markets and/or financial markets
