The Corporate Standards Group (CSG) is a global organization focusing on standards and certifications regarding cutting-edge technologies across the world. CSG partners closely within the company with product and business groups, policy, legal and government affairs teams, and others as appropriate to drive standards and certification-related outcomes supporting Microsoft’s business. With deep experience at the intersection of technology, policy and business, the team consists of senior industry and technical leaders in their respective countries and regions.

The CSG China team is part of global CSG. We are looking for a motivated China Security Certification Lead with a background in security to work on China security specific product certifications. The role will be responsible for understanding and engaging the external requirements of related standards, certifications, and regulations to drive the internal certification process across the company’s security organization. The candidate should have technical leadership skills, an engineering background, project management and troubleshooting abilities along with deep experience in the cybersecurity domain to understand certain security standards with security knowledge background. The person in this role will be expected to travel as needed to meet certification requirements effectively (up to 30% travel time).

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a China security certification Program Management Office (PMO) to drive the efforts across the company to ensure Microsoft’s security offerings receive the China security specific product certifications to meet market access requirements.

  • Coordinate and communicate with the engeneering groups on the related standards requirements, certification preparation, testing requirements, implementation details, budget, and bug-fixing, etc. and integrate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for the products and services that require certification.

  • Work with product groups/engineering groups/feature groups to establish and monitor processes to hold stakeholders accountable to meet the necessary timelines.

  • Track, communicate and manage dependencies to enable cohesive, connected solutions and processes, and identify potential risk areas to escalate in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Make adjustments and/or provide guidance to mitigate risks to cross-group stakeholders when projects are not aligned to one another and/or when there are competing schedules or goals.

  • Understand China Cybersecurity standards and related regulations for the certifications, and engage in the standard activities to promote market access.

  • Orchestrate on-site demonstrations and testing with internal engineering groups and external authorities.

  • Manage the engagements with the China certitifcation authorities to ensure Microsoft’s offerings meet all the requirements from the authorities.

  • Collaborate closely with the internal product and business groups, policy, legal and government affairs teams for security certification related issues to understand and align priorities, certification pipeline plan, business needs and resources, etc.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or Engineering AND 2+ years working in engineering/ technical program management within cybersecurity domain; including audit, certification, and conformity assessment with extensive software/service project management experience.

  • OR 5+ years working in engineering/ technical program management within cybersecurity domain; including audit, certification, and conformity assessment with extensive software/service project management experience.

  • Track record of Program Management capability across multi-national teams with strong cross-group coordination.

  • Proven capabilities and skills to create clarity from complexity with good judgment to find constructive ways forward.

  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in both English and Mandarin languages.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering (Dev/Test) experience in Security products with primary programmatic responsibility for Security certifications is a plus.

  • PM/ Engineering experience for China sales permit and GB42250 mandatory certification.

  • Engagement in TC260, CCSA TC8 or any related cybersecurity standard organizations.

  • Working knowledge of cloud-based security products or cloud-based services, especially for Microsoft products.
