Fortive Corporation Production Buyer in Beaverton, Oregon

Are you a hard-working, dedicated individual who is passionate about Supply Chain? If so, then Tektronix might be the place for you! We have an outstanding opportunity for a Buyer to join our Operations Team in Beaverton, Oregon as a member of the Production Procurement Team. In this role, you will work to ensure the timely delivery of materials needed for production, problem solve and countermeasure excess inventory, and drive improvements through use of FBS. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, follow through with actions, prioritize workload, act with a sense of urgency on critical tasks, and have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and management of purchase orders to meet revenue and inventory goals.

  • Proactively maintain all open purchase orders: due date(s), quantities, cost, etc.

  • Follow-up with suppliers on past due purchase orders, or when purchase orders have not been acknowledged in a timely manner.

  • Work directly with the manufacturing team to understand material requirements and ensure that material is available when it is needed.

  • Reschedule and/or cancel purchase orders that aren’t needed, in order to avoid excess inventory.

  • Coordinate with Quality Engineering and Process Engineering to resolve supplier quality issues.

  • Responsible for managing all item attributes for assigned parts: lead time, minimum order quantity, cost, etc.

  • Work with suppliers to negotiate on behalf of Tektronix for better price, improved lead times, and smaller MOQs.

  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice holds.

  • Work with Commodity Managers to meet targeted price reductions and resolve critical shortages.

  • Responsible for updating Kanban sizing as demand changes.

  • Provide coaching and feedback to suppliers that aren't meeting expectations for quality and/or delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be available to work on-site, remote work is not an option for this role.

  • Strong written and verbal communication is a must.

  • Proficient with Microsoft applications, such as: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well-organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and enjoys being part of a diverse team.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other related fields.

  • 2-3 years of purchasing experience.

  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a high-mix, low-volume plant.

  • Experience working with ERP systems, such as Oracle.

  • Understanding of Kanban, Min/Max, Buy to Order, Consignment, Vendor Managed Inventory, Blankets, MRP, and Last Time Buy.

  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing tools.
