The Principal Client Engineer is responsible for establishing the systems and processes required to define, implement, and track configuration of the client computing environment at Providence Health Plan.
This individual must effectively collaborate with different business and IT groups across the organization to design and deliver a progressive, high-quality client architecture that complies with security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations. This includes physical, virtual, and mobile client solutions.

Essential Functions:
Assist in defining, documenting, and communicating the client technology strategy including the definition and enforcement of standards
Automation of the client hardware and software provisioning & delivery architecture
Design a reliable and repeatable build process of physical and virtual desktops
Manage the client infrastructure aspects of technology migration, including capacity planning, security, software lifecycle, and performance management
Maintain awareness of current direction and changes in new technology, advances in the computer industry and relevant client systems such as VDI
Lead improvements based on technology, best practices, or changing requirements
Evaluate, perform proof-of-concepts, and assist in developing business use cases containing ROI opportunities for new client products or platforms
Develop the processes with which client hardware and software are automatically and regularly inventoried and available
Perform unit testing of packages, application configurations, images and configuration performance using manual and automated testing tools
Implement and oversee execution of system management and control disciplines to ensure data security, integrity, confidentiality, and recoverability
Serve as 3rd and nth level support for all client related issues in keeping with the organization’s incident and problem management escalation procedures
Communicate with all levels of IT Leadership and Business Partners across Providence Health Plan’s environment regarding client platforms and software deployment activity
Mentor’s junior engineers to develop technical skills towards a senior position
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with Directory Services (LDAP/AD/EntraID) and thorough knowledge of client management platforms such as Microsoft Group Policy and Intune
Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft client operating systems, Office suite, and automated and unattended provisioning and configuration on these platforms; specifically, Windows 10, MAC OSX, and MS O365
Experience in supporting and managing MAC OSX in enterprise environments, Workspace One for MAC OSX management
Working experience with MS Intune, Autopilot and MS Azure AD
Scripting and programming experience in languages such as PowerShell, and .NET (VB, C#) with a focus on automation
Demonstrated customer focus and proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service
Ability to analyze simple to complex problems and provide suggestions for resolution
Strong communication skills (verbal/written), comfortable in presenting to small and large groups and various levels of management
Strong ability to analyze, consolidate and communicate complex technical topics to all levels of staff including but not limited to IT executives, business/technical managers, developers, and system administrators in verbal and written form
Proven ability to build partnerships, work with and influence others that are not in the direct sphere of control and be influenced gracefully
Able to navigate through ambiguities and flexible to changing priorities
Proficiency in MS Office and Visio
Experience with Windows IOT devices as Virtual Desktop endpoints
Management and configuration experience, HP Device Manager, IGEL, or 10Zig Device Manager activities to include software updates, deployments, and imaging
SQL DB and SQL Reporting service experience with focus on executive ready reporting
Working experience with VMWare vSphere, VMWare Horizon View, VMWare DEM/UEM and VMWare Aria
Experience with ControlUp management and reporting
Experience with print management systems
Experience with Microsoft deployment toolkit 2010/2012
Working experience with VMware App Volumes or similar software packaging/layering tools
Experience with Rapid7 Endpoint detection and response tools
Ability to construct advanced SQL queries in SCCM for reporting and management
Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security Certification or related experience
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study -OR- a combination of equivalent education and experience
6 or more years of systems integration and engineering experience with SCCM, software packaging, patch deployment, configuration management and systems management
8 or more years of experience managing an environment of 4,000+ distributed client systems with an enterprise management technology such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Workspace One, etc.
8 or more years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
6 or more years of hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM)
10 or more years’ experience with a broad range of desktop hardware, client virtualization, and mobile platforms such as smartphones and tablets
6 or more years enterprise desktop image management and development
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study -OR- a combination of equivalent education and experience
Certifications such as Microsoft AZURE, O365 Enterprise, Teams, PowerShell, SCCM, Intune are strongly preferred or equivalent experience in using/ supporting the tools
