Nike Lead Yarn Quality in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

This individual will partner across Materials and Product Supply Chain, including Partner / Materials Management, Materials Sourcing and Materials Costing. In addition to working directly with cross-functional Material and Color Developers and stakeholders across Product Supply Chain and Consumer Creation.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Lead Yarn Quality candidate who will be responsible for development, maintenance and review of footwear, Apparel, and Accessories yarn standards and ensuring the materials, performance, systems, and process adhere to set standards and requirements. The candidate will determine potential problems, and resolving quality assurance issues, establishing testing protocols, dynamic risk management implementations, and drive quality initiatives to meet the organizational objectives.

YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Textile Science/Engineering/Technology/Chemistry, Color Science, Materials Science/Engineering, Material Design or related field) or equivalent combination of education, experience or training

  • A minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience

  • 6+ years of Material or Color Quality Management experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of fibers and filaments, fabric and yarn constructions, fabric dyeing and finishing, print techniques and materials testing/inspection procedure.

  • Organizational skills and ability to multi task with proactively troubleshoot and problem solve

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, attention to details, organizational skills, analytical skills, and research/investigative abilities.

  • Able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Appreciation of other disciplines such as product engineering, technical development, design, product development, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience in global partner relationships

  • Working knowledge in the global trade of apparel/footwear and material options along with apparel/footwear and textile manufacturing processes.

  • Strong sense of ownership, ability to work with different stakeholders (team player).

  • Experience working on/with cross-functional teams and vendors and providing project management support

  • Experience with data entry, data management and investigating in an information management system or sophisticated database

  • Solid attention to detail and process orientation

  • Problem structuring and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work within an expansive corporate network and diverse manufacturing environments.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

Maintain and develop infrastructure for accessing requirements, investigating and communicating new and revised standards. Implement process for identifying and prioritizing new yarn standards needed for single source and multi-sourced materials and or products. Align and drive quality project initiatives, set roadmap targets and timelines alongside subject matter experts for revision and addition of yarn standards. Publish, train, and promote the use of yarn standards through various communication and training programs both internally and with Nike manufacturing partners.

Including:

  • Comprehend results of lab tests and their impact on quality and performance.

  • Ensure all adopted fabrications meet Nike’s performance goals, testing requirements and quality standards.

  • Yarn and Material performance standards management and End-Use application.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally on a technical level with internal and external business partners.

  • Identify and proactively engage business partners when issues arise with recommendations for viable solutions

  • Mentor cross functional team members with technical expertise

  • Standards communication and documentation

  • Collaborate with Partner Management team to develop, implement and execute process, tools and strategy to measure yarn vendor performance to expected standards and quality goals.

  • Continuous process improvement. Lead projects that develop and/or impact the yarn and materials development, quality, or other manufacturing areas.

  • Assessments to determine quality process gaps and capability improvement opportunities

  • Cross-functional collaboration to manage standards across dimensions and manufacturing partners

  • Promote culture of quality and performance improvements across Nike and partners.

  • Establish clearly defined quality standards metrics (KPIs) and measurements for data analysis, scoring, and reporting; performance against material specifications and color standards.

  • Plan and manage projects and resources to achieve material quality with efficiency and cost results aligned to optimize benefits for Nike’s business.
