Nike Lead, Tax External Reporting and Compliance in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our Global Tax team plays an important role in fueling the growth at NIKE, and we are currently looking for a Lead, Tax External Reporting and Compliance to serve as a key player in supporting the quarterly and annual income tax provision process. The Lead, Tax External Reporting and Compliance will leverage their understanding of US GAAP and critical thinking skills to effectively evaluate financial results while applying tax technical concepts to determine the appropriate accounting and reporting of income taxes.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you will work closely with the Global Tax External Reporting and Compliance team and provide support in reviewing the quarterly and annual US GAAP Income Tax accounting processes. Activities will include:

  • Review of US GAAP income tax provision calculations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial disclosures for all reporting cycles

  • Performing SOX controls for US GAAP Income Tax accounting processes

  • Supporting income tax reporting and compliance activities globally and coordinating responses to external and internal audit inquiries as needed

  • Partnering with external advisors to support global income tax reporting and compliance processes

  • Adhoc analysis of income tax impacts related to business changes, legislative or regulatory updates, controversy, and income tax planning

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Reporting to the Director, Global Tax External Reporting and Compliance, you will guide external consultants while managing communication within the Nike matrix. As you lead US GAAP Income Tax reporting and compliance processes, you will have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with finance teams, including Controlling, Investor Relations, Global Business Planning, and Treasury. You will also partner closely with external/internal auditors to meet interim and year-end audit requirements.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading or supporting US Corporate Income Tax at a large, multinational company or public accounting firm

  • Experience in US GAAP Income Tax accounting and reporting, and working knowledge of US Taxation of International operations is a plus

  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP ERP and SharePoint systems

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate status, issues/risks, and opportunities

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple, competing priorities and requests, while maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail

  • Consistent track record in developing high-profile, influential, and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers
