Fortive Corporation Component and Supplier Quality Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon

Tektronix Component Solutions Organization (CSO) is committed to supplying customers with solutions to their most challenging microelectronic assembly and testing requirements. CSO's mission is to provide our customers a complete solution for their custom packaging needs through design, development, and manufacturing services.

The Component/Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the technical fitness for use and quality of Substrates (including Printed Circuit Boards, flex, rigid-flex, ceramic, and specialty substrates) and other assigned components. This requires technical interactions with suppliers, customers, and internal design and procurement teams.

To achieve this goal, the successful candidate must clearly communicate technical needs to the supply base and supplier capabilities to the design community. They become the technical expert and internal resource for capabilities, roadmaps, and clear specifications. They are often consulted for design trade-offs to include Fabrication, Assembly, Performance, and Quality/Reliability considerations. They contribute to design notes and own the quality inspection requirements.

By being a member of both new product design and sustaining teams, this role is key in translating component characteristics to performance, yield, and supplier capability. This includes support for product end of life cycle, such as identification and support of qualification of replacement products.

In addition to technical specifications, this role addresses quality and reliability needs and performance in the product. Supplier quality measures and product requirements must be captured effectively to ensure the lowest cost, highest value solution. Understanding and communicating specifications to fabricators and inspectors is a key element of effective execution of the role.

Required Skills:

  • BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering

  • 4 years minimum experience in an engineering discipline

  • Working knowledge of machining, fabrication, plating, and materials

  • Ability to specify and interpret mechanical requirements per ASME Y14.5

  • Knowledge of industry inspection methods and standards with the ability to translate to product acceptability

  • Quality inspection methods and statistics including sampling plans and Gage Capability studies

  • Ability to travel to domestic and international locations

Desired skills:

  • Direct experience as a Component Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Experience in rf interconnects, mechanical components, and industrial adhesives

  • Demonstrated ability to lead resolution of technical issues

  • Familiarity with CMM, XRF, and other inspection tools

  • Experience with Autocad, Solidworks, and ProE
