Entergy Project Manager - Capital Projects in Beaumont, Texas

*This position may be filled as a Project Manager, Sr Lead - CP or Project Manager, Sr Staff - CP depending on the qualifications and or the experience of the candidate.*

Job Summary/Purpose

Project Manager, Sr Lead - CP

  • This position manages project development (Stage 1-2) for Capital Projects Transmission projects.

  • Promotes safe behaviors and adhereance to Entegy Safety Rules and OSHA guidelines.

  • Accountable for overall success of assigned projects through Project Development Stage Gates 1 and 2.

  • Leads cross-functional project teams through project development for front-end businss case justification and scoping for Transmission oriented projects.

  • Accountable for develoment of planning and scoping level esitmates (Class 4-5) and Level 1-2 schedules for assigned projects in accordance with Entergy Project Delivery System Stage 1-2.

  • Works with Project Controls to ensure all projects are developed in accordance with all Entergy Project Delivery System requirements. Deliverables for projects meet and exceed requirements for applicable Stage Gates 1 and 2.

  • Works with project sponsors, operating companies, portfolio management, and Finance Business Partners to ensure sound rationale for project estimates are utilized in Entergy portfolio planning process.

  • Works with external Customers for non-revenue requests to ensure scope and estimates are in-line with sound project management and estimating priciples.

  • Works with Entergy accounting, legal and Project Delivery to ensure reimburseable projects are appropriately contracted,financed and recoved, targeting 0 stranded costs.

  • Ensures compliance with approved policies and procedures.

  • Candidate must be a proven self-starter.

Project Manager, Sr Staff CP

  • This position manages project development (Stage 1-2) for Capital Projects Transmission projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Project Manager, Sr Lead - CP

  • Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project.

  • Reviews Project Design and Construction Requests (PDCR form) with sponsors to ensure alignment around business case, justification, and alternatives and ensures that projects meets Entergy core business objectives.

  • Able to lead a Jurisdictional Expertise Team (JET) to align on scope, schedule, cost, documentation of risks, and lessons learned during Project Development process and appropriately documents JET outcomes.

  • Develops Class 5 and 4 estimating for projects utilizing best industry practices and Entergy estimating tools with SME oversight leading up to JET reviews.

  • Works with Project Controls to develop initial Level 1 and 2 schedule definition for projects. Communicates delays beyond sponsor requested date and effectively coordinates back to management, sponsor and Customers.

  • Develops project cash flows that aligns with project schedule and cost estimates with support of project controls and JET members.

  • Able to demonstrate project readiness for project Review and Approval (R&A) with upper management and in accordance with Entergy Project Delivery System required deliverables.

  • Supports clear, timely and accurate project status reports and identifies, communicates, and takes prompt actions for project issues that may impact project performance.

  • Ensures proper documentation and archiving for all work, ensuring appropriate Record Retention documentation is maintained.

  • Ensures proper handover with Project Delivery Project Management for developed projects.

  • Works with Miscellaneous Accounts Receivable, Project Controls, and Portfolio Management to ensure projects are properly accounted for, including both Entergy and Customer funded projects.

  • Works with Entergy legal representation to ensure sound contracting with Customers.

Project Manager, Sr Staff CP

  • Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project.

  • Reviews Project Design and Construction Requests (PDCR form) with sponsors to ensure alignment around business case, justification, and alternatives and ensures that projects meets Entergy core business objectives.

  • Able to identify, define and lead a Jurisdictional Expertise Team (JET) to align on scope, schedule, cost, documentation of risks, and lessons learned during Project Development process and appropriately documents JET outcomes.

  • Develops Class 5 and 4 estimating for projects utilizing best industry practices and Entergy estimating tools with check review by appropriate SMEs during JET reviews.

  • Works with Project Controls to develop initial Level 1 and 2 schedule definition for projects. Provides guidance to Project Controls specialist to ensure that high-level project objectives are maintained and that delays beyond sponsor requested date are effectively coordinates back to sponsor and Customers.

  • Develops project cash flows that aligns with project schedule and cost estimates with check provide during JET or other SME reviews.

  • Consistently demonstrates project readiness for project Review and Approval (R&A) with upper management and in accordance with Entergy Project Delivery System required deliverables.

  • Maintains clear, timely and accurate project status reports and identifies, communicates, and takes prompt actions for project issues that may impact project performance.

  • Ensures proper documentation and archiving for all work, ensuring appropriate Record Retention documentation is maintained.

  • Ensures high quality handover with Project Delivery Project Management for developed projects.

  • Works with MIscellaneous Accounts Receivable, Project Controls, and Portfolio Management to ensure projects are properly accounted for, inluding both Entergy and Customer funded projects.

  • Works with Entergy legal representation to ensure sound contracting with Customers.

  • Provides leadership to contract resources as 'Owner's Representative' and is accountable for contract project managment assigned outcomes.

  • Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Regularly participates in cross-functional training and process improvement initiatives and serves as a mentor within the Project Development organization

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent/related work experience (in addition to Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of degree.

  • Preferred: Advanced Degree

  • Preferred - MBA, Masters in Engineering, Construction, Project Management.

Minimum experience required of the position

Project Manager, Sr Lead - CP

  • 6 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.

  • Preferred: 2 years of engineering experience.

Project Manager, Sr Staff CP

  • 8 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.

  • Preferred: 4 years of engineering experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Project Manager, Sr Lead - CP

  • Expert in project and construction management fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations.

  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.

  • Supervisory Experience with direct reports or in a matrix organization.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software and equipment.

  • Understanding of Industry Best Practices.

  • Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.

  • Knowledge of Effective Estimating Practices.

  • Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High level understanding of scheduling for utiilty projects including development of intial project cash flows.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with internal and external Customers, including communciation of often techincal details in a manner thats understood by all stakeholder.

Project Manager, Sr Staff CP

  • Expert in project and construction management fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations.

  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.

  • Supervisory Experience with direct reports or in a matrix organization.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software and equipment.

  • Detailed understanding of scheduling including software platforms for utiilty projects including development of initial project cash flows.

  • Demonstrated leadership in the area of lessons learned

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing estimating tools

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with internal and external Customers, including communciation of often techincal details in a manner thats understood by all stakeholders.
