Job Summary/Basic Function

About This Role:

The Faculty Success Designer is responsible for creating engaging, user-centered faculty support materials and professional development experiences within the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning. This role will apply principles of user experience (UX), instructional design, graphic design and marketing to develop effective training resources, workshops, and online learning environments for faculty. The designer will also manage the division’s web presence and produce internal marketing/communications content.

What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop faculty-facing instructional content, training materials, job aids and multimedia learning resources.

  • Plan, create and facilitate innovative professional development workshops and online training modules.

  • Apply user experience (UX) design methodologies to enhance usability, engagement and satisfaction.

  • Incorporate multimedia elements such as video, graphics, simulations and interactivities into learning experiences.

  • Conduct faculty/user research and analyze data to identify training needs and areas for improvement.

  • Establish instructional design standards, templates and branding guidelines across materials.

  • Ensure all learning resources and online environments meet accessibility and universal design requirements.

  • Manage and provide content strategy for the division’s website and internal communication channels. Including the production of creative marketing communications to promote faculty development opportunities.

  • Stay current on new authoring tools, technologies and UX/ID design trends.

  • Provide mentorship to graduate assistants and student workers (when they are available).

  • Proficient in web design, graphic design, and multimedia creation

  • Ability to analyze faculty needs and develop tailored training solutions

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis and program assessment

Physical Requirements:

No major physical requirements. Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer. Ability to get around the campus as needed. Ability to lift small items (3-10 pounds maximum).

Job Conditions:

The position is subject to annual review by the supervisor. Employees must abide by all Lamar University, State, and Center policies and procedures. Office environment with occasional travel to attend conferences or meetings. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design, training, and/or web/graphic design

  • Experience in web content management, graphic design, and multimedia development

  • Strong working knowledge of current teaching and learning principles, best practices, and innovative instructional technologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
