Title: Child Nutrition Assistant Terms of Employment: Part-Time, 10 months

Purpose: The Child Nutrition Assistant performs semi-skilled work preparing and serving meals and other food in the school cafeteria.

Qualifications - Must have High School Diploma or GED - One year or more of related experience in food service or a combination of training, education, or experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains a positive working relationship with other employees and staff.
• Politely, respectfully, and efficiently serves students, staff, parents, and others.
• Follows a work schedule, a sanitation (HACCP) schedule, plans ahead, and helps others on the child nutrition team.
• Completes production records as instructed on a daily basis.
• Takes and records temperatures of food items as instructed.
• Cleans equipment (ex: ovens, steamers, refrigerators, milk boxes, etc) in the kitchen.
• Sets up, runs, breaks down, properly cleans, and de-limes dishwasher.
• Takes out trash and washes trash cans.
• Performs other duties as assigned by child nutrition manager or building administrator.

Skills and Abilities

• General knowledge of food preparation and standards of sanitation and safety
• General knowledge of proper storage methods for various foods, supplies, and equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Physical mobility and agility to stand for long periods
• Ability to work in adverse environmental conditions
• Ability to solve most problems independently
