Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Bay Shore, New York

Description We are in search of an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in the construction industry, located in BAY SHORE, New York, 11706-1210, United States. The primary function of this role is to manage accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will also be required to interact with vendors, handle payroll, and assist with monthly closing processes and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently process and manage accounts payable transactions.

• Review and verify invoices and check requests, ensuring appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

• Accurately code and match invoices, setting them up for payment.

• Enter and upload invoices into the accounting system, tracking expenses.

• Manage vendor relationships, correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.

• Maintain accurate vendor files, including W-9 forms, and reconcile accounts payable transactions.

• Process payroll for all employees, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness.

• Track and record employees' working hours and time off balances, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

• Set up and update employee payroll records, resolving any payroll discrepancies.

• Handle payroll related questions or issues from employees in a professional and timely manner.

• Prepare and submit reports to relevant governmental agencies as required.

• Assist with monthly closing processes and account reconciliations, maintaining confidentiality of all financial data. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years experience in an Accounts Payable role within the construction or contractor industry

• Demonstrated ability in Account Reconciliation and Accounts Payable (AP)

• Experience with Check Runs and Coding Invoices is necessary

• Proficiency in Data Entry and Invoice Processing

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are required

• Familiarity with Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP is highly desirable

• Candidate must possess good organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• High attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Knowledge of construction/contractor industry-specific accounting regulations and standards is a plus.
