ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR (DESIGN OR SYSTEMS) - PLANT HATCH

Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Hatch Engineering organization is seeking a high performing design supervisor with an analytical mindset. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear's Plant Hatch in Baxley, Georgia.

Summary of Position Duties

The Design Engineering Supervisor positions are assigned to the Plant Hatch Engineering department Site Design Engineering Manager, all of whom report to the Site Engineering Director. The position will be responsible for leading a group of Electrical/I&C or Mechanical/ Civil engineers in performance of activities supporting design changes for the Hatch Nuclear Plant. Also, this position will be responsible for emergent engineering (EFIN) activities such as temporary modifications, troubleshooting, and evaluations. Conduct of these activities will ensure safe, reliable and efficient plant operations for Plant Hatch.

Supervisory duties include:

  • Ensure proper implementation of corporate, plant and department policies/procedures

  • Ensure focus and prioritization for Core Engineering and Design activities.

  • Ensure training and qualification of personnel in accordance with applicable procedures

  • Provide effective and efficient support of Maintenance and Operations in trouble shooting and problem resolution activities.

  • Serve in the emergency response organization as Engineering Supervisor in TSC

  • Function as acting Site Design Manager when necessary

  • Serve as duty Engineering Supervisor

  • Ensure proper industrial and radiation safe practices are followed by employees and contractors, specifically

    • Must model safe work behaviors

    • Must have the ability to initiate and encourage others to follow safe work practices

    • Must be able to hold self and others accountable for safe work behaviors

  • Ensure personnel embrace the use of Human Performance Tools (Fleet and Engineering).

  • Responsible for supporting the development of the engineers in their team.

Education

  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (required) from an accredited college or university or a PE license.

  • An engineering degree in Electrical/I&C or Mechanical/Civil Engineering, but an engineering degree in a related field or program will be considered.

  • An advanced degree and/or PE license will be an advantage.

  • Shift Technical Advisor or Operations (SRO) license/certification will also be an advantage.

Job Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of nuclear experience is desired for this position.

Required:

  • Strong background in engineering

  • BS degree in Engineering

  • Working knowledge of common computer tools, including MS Word and Excel

Preferred:

  • Shift Technical Advisor or Operations (SRO) license/certification experience.

  • Experience with the Nuclear Common Design Process, IP-ENG-001

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
