Description

Robert Half is partnering with an insurance company located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to find an experienced senior accountant for a hybrid role on a contract to hire basis. The position involves managing and overseeing the full accounting cycle for the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting financial audits.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

• Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash balances and identify discrepancies.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitor and analyze budget variances.

• Develop and maintain internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with company policies and regulations.

• Coordinate and support external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for audit queries.

• Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting function.

• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of five years of experience, insurance industry experience is preferred.

• Demonstrable skills in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Proficiency in managing general ledger and journal entries.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Extensive experience in month-end close procedures.

• Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks.

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

• Proven record of adhering to all company policies and procedures.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to take initiative.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must have a customer service mindset and a commitment to providing exceptional service to all stakeholders.
