Gillman Home Center General Accounting Specialist in Batesville, Indiana

Gillman Home Center is looking for an experienced General Accounting Specialist to work at our Batesville, Indiana headquarters. This person will handle high-volume accounts payable, accounts receivable, POS system maintenance and assist with general ledger. It is a very fast paced environment and will require the person to be well-organized and have strong attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide excellent customer service to our team members, customers and vendors.

  • Performs routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting reports and accounts payable or receivable functions.

  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

  • Process vendor invoices; matching invoices and entering into computer system.

  • Monitor and document capital spending, disposition and reporting for fixed assets.

  • Collaborate seamlessly with vendors, customers, the sales and accounting teams and management.

  • Assist with other projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Work Environment: This position will work inside at an office.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

Travel: Local, to the bank and post office as needed.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred

  • 3+ years of Accounts Payable and General Ledger experience

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures

  • Strong problem solving skills, thorough accounting principles knowledge, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills

  • Must have a strong work ethic, be highly-organized, and a self-starter

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable

  • Proficient in Excel and Word

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
